Why the Base Is the Most Important Part of Your Landscape Install
When homeowners look at turf, pavers, or putting greens, most think about the surface — but the truth is, what’s underneath matters way more.
A beautiful install without the right base? It’ll crack, sink, or wrinkle way before it should.
Every Project Needs a Different Base
We don’t use the same setup for every yard. Why?
Because pets, putting greens, and standard turf all need different performance, and your location and soil play a huge role in how we build the foundation.
🐾 Pet Turf = Better Drainage
We go deeper and build smarter for pet yards to ensure water drains fast and doesn’t pool. That all starts with how we layer and compact the base material.
🏌️ Putting Greens = Laser Grading
Putting greens require perfect slope and smooth compaction. If the base is off, the ball won’t roll true — no matter how good the turf is.
🌿 Regular Turf = Still Custom
Even a basic lawn install needs proper compaction, slope for runoff, and sometimes different materials based on the soil in your area.
Stockton clay isn’t the same as a San Jose hillside. We build for where you live.
One Size Fits No One
If someone’s quoting you the same install for every job, they’re probably skipping the base work that actually makes it last.
We build it right the first time — for your specific needs and location.
